Why did you choose UWS?
The main reason I chose UWS is because of its evidence-based curriculum and the emphasis on an integrated patient-centered care approach. The location of the school played a huge role in my decision as well, because I wanted to live closer to my family and I liked what Portland had to offer me personally and professionally.
Why did you choose your program/concentration?
I always knew I wanted to give back to people and chiropractic care was my obvious option given its conservative approach. The sports medicine program further reinforced the knowledge I gained from the DC program, and it expanded my experience in working with different populations and my approach in treatment.
What has been your favorite class? Favorite instructor?
Tough question! If I had to choose, I would say Dr. Bill Borman and Dr. Ron LeFebvre, because of the time and energy they invest in teaching us the course material. My favorite classes would be spinal disorders and the clinical phase series, because those courses helped me build the foundation of clinical knowledge, challenged me to think critically and taught me how to how to apply them in the clinical environment.
What is your favorite way to relieve stress outside of the office and classroom?
I like to spend time with friends at the archery range or hit the mountains for snowboarding or downhill mountain biking. Sometimes I like to try new things like painting or pottery. It’s never a dull moment hanging out with my two closest buddies Zach and David.
What do you hope to do after graduation?
The clinical experience at the VA has been great in every aspect so far, and it gives me great pride to treat veterans who have been on numerous deployments fighting on the frontlines. My hope is to stick with the same team of chiropractic physicians at this location and later to join one of my peers to start up a private practice.
