Dr. Chuck Simpson graduated from UWS in 1978. From 1979 until 2003, he maintained a general chiropractic practice in Cornelius, Ore., near Portland. Dr. Simpson completed a postgraduate program in orthopedics and was board certified in chiropractic orthopedics by the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists in 1990.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Simpson has been a consultant for Oregon Workers’ Compensation Division and Washington Department of Labor and Industries. He has been on staff with a number of consulting firms performing Independent Medical Examinations and multi‑disciplinary panel examinations in Ore., Idaho, Hawaii and Alaska. Dr. Simpson has testified as both a plaintiff and defense expert witness in depositions, hearings and trials involving personal injury and malpractice.
He is coauthor, with Dr. Richard H. Tilden, of “Standards of Practice in Third Party Relationships” in the text “Quality and Standards of Practice in Chiropractic.” He has been published in chiropractic trade journals and “Managed Care Quarterly,” writing on medical quality and managing chiropractic care. Dr. Simpson is a contributing author to “Integrating Complementary Medicine in Health Systems” from Aspen Publishers. He wrote the chapter on complementary medicine therapies in “Bonica’s Management of Pain” and was a content expert for the Center for Substance Abuse and Treatment clinical practice guideline “Managing Chronic Pain in Persons with or in recovery from Substance Abuse Disorders.” He published reviews of complementary medicine in chronic pain treatment for “Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinics of North America” in 2006 and 2015.
Dr. Simpson is also a founder of the CHP Group, which manages networks of chiropractic, naturopathic medicine, acupuncture and massage therapy providers in Ore., Idaho, Alaska, Utah, Colo., and Wash. CHP provides management and complementary health care for a number of Pacific Northwest health plans.
