Optional Practical Training (OPT) and OPT STEM Extension (STEM OPT) Request Form

F-1 students may apply to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for authorization of temporary employment for practical training directly related to the student’s field of study and commensurate with the student’s educational level.

Post-Completion OPT

You are eligible to apply for 12 months of OPT if you have been enrolled as a full-time student for at least nine consecutive months
The earliest you can apply for post-completion OPT is 90 days before the end of Q12

STEM OPT Extension

You are eligible to apply for 24 months of STEM OPT if you earned the bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from UWS and are approved for and completing post-completion OPT
The earliest you can apply for STEM OPT is 90 days before your post-completion OPT end date
