Tiffany Mehling has been licensed as a clinical social worker since 2010 and is currently licensed to practice as a psychotherapist/mental health professional in both Nevada and Illinois. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Communication at Northwestern University (with majors in Dance and Communication Studies, a concentration in Media and Politics, and a minor in Psychology). After working in politics, the performing arts, and higher education, she returned to school for a Master of Arts in Clinical Social Work at the University of Chicago. She is currently in the dissertation phase of work toward a doctorate (EdD) in Sport and Performance Psychology at the University of Western States. She has also completed training in Family and Divorce Mediation through Northwestern University's School of Continuing Studies as well as post-graduate training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Peak Performance Consulting.
As a clinical social worker, she has had the privilege of working in a variety of settings and with diverse client populations. Highlights include serving as mental health manager for four Texas prisons, serving on the psychiatric consultation-liaison service and as the mental health department's liaison to the inpatient complex combat casualty unit (i.e. the wounded warriors) at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, and at the student counseling center at Northwestern University. She also worked in both the emergency department and outpatient mental health at the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare system. In addition to her role as an adjunct instructor at UWS, she has a private practice in Las Vegas, Nevada where she provides psychotherapy and performance consulting to a range of clients that includes professional athletes, performing artists, and those in high-performance careers (e.g. surgeons, first responders, etc.). She also provides supervision to post-graduate counselors, psychotherapists, and social workers working toward independent clinical licensure. As a psychotherapist, she values working toward an informed eclecticism. Though originally trained in psychodynamic and family systems theories, after significant post-graduate training, has embraced evidence-based psychotherapies (CBT, ACT, IPT) and utilizes these frameworks in her current practice. She also enjoys working as part of an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
