Biography

Dr. Patience Lee has over 25+ years of child welfare experience working in domestic foster care, private adoption, refugee and immigrant services. She currently works for one of the two nationally recognized refugee resettlement organization contracted by the state department as the associate director for clinical oversight. Her experience also includes trauma-informed care to vulnerable and marginalized populations, leading treatment strategies that support the accomplishment of implementation of mental health services to refugees and unaccompanied minors, and mentoring staff providing direct care services and overall, culturally sensitive care. She provides couple and individual therapy for trauma, fertility, anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, grief, and loss issues, as well as attachment-related disorder. Her approach to therapy is eclectic and holistic, making her a great for the UWS CMHC team.

Her educational credentials include an MS Counseling, and a EdD in Counseling Psychology. She is currently a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.). She holds clinical licenses to practice mental services in the state of Pennsylvania and Michigan.

She enjoys reading (and is currently reading an amazing book by Bryan Stevenson: Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption), eating out, and trying different foods from diverse cultures such as Mexican, Thai, Moroccan, Cuban, Italian, Ethiopian, etc. She loves spending quality time with her husband and teen daughter, traveling, mentoring, teaching, cooking and listening to mental health-related audiobooks/podcasts.
