Student Speaker Nomination Form

The student speaker serves as the representative for graduating students and celebrates the accomplishments of the graduating class. The student speaker presents an inclusive and inspiring message for the future that honors graduates of all university programs.

Nomination Deadline and Information

Nominations must be submitted by Thursday, May 2 to be considered for the June 2024 student speaker. You can nominate multiple students and self-nominations are appropriate.

Nominations are accepted from students in the graduating class, faculty members and program directors or deans.

Criteria for Eligibility:

  • Student must be eligible to participate in the Spring 2024 University of Western States Commencement Ceremony.
  • Demonstrated leadership and/or service involvement while at UWS. This may include significant academic leadership, membership with campus clubs, participation as a mentor/ambassador, or being appointed or elected to a leadership position with a university organization, board or committee.
  • Student must be in good disciplinary standing.

Selection Process

After nominations are closed, nominees will be asked to complete a short online form affirming their interest in being the student speaker and outlining three to four key points they would like to discuss in their speech.
