UWS Chiropractic Students Offer Care to the Cornelius Community

UWS at the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center's National Health Center Week celebration

On August 9, University of Western States (UWS) partnered with the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center to provide complimentary chiropractic care and blood pressure screenings as part of their National Health Center Week celebration. The event drew a large and diverse crowd from the Cornelius, Oregon community.

Under the supervision of Dr. Peter Vuky, assistant professor of clinical internship, student interns provided care to 21 community members and referred many to the Connected Whole Health Clinic.

“These events are about being a part of the community and giving back. This is why we got into health care,” said Dr. Vuky when speaking about the significance of community-based events like these.

UWS extends its gratitude to Megan Chen, Jhi Xing Chan, Tyler Jones and Dr. Vuky for their commitment to increasing access to health care in our local community.

Have You Entered the Library’s Poetry Contest?

Become the bard of UWS!

Throughout our history, countless students have emerged from our programs. They have come from around the world to pursue their education and have gone on to serve their communities. Our archives house many of their stories. But for our 120th anniversary, we want to hear yours.

If you’re interested in submitting your original poem, please email your piece to the library by 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, August 31. Winners will be announced for first, second, and third place. The grand prize student winner will receive a $50 gift card and UWS extras.
